About transfer, exchanges and other ways to move home as a Keniston resident.
This page is for tenants who want to know all about moving on from their current Keniston home. Please remember you must give 4 weeks notice when you move out of your home. Transfers A transfer is when Keniston will try to find you a home in another Keniston property. We cannot transfer you to another housing association or council property. If you need to move to a location where Keniston does not have any property, you should contact the landlords in the area direct. Keniston will consider you for a transfer if you are overcrowded, underoccupying, if you have health problems, where you are being harassed, if you have a new job which is difficult to reach from your present home or if you need to move close to an elderly or disabled relative who is in substantial need of support. Please ask your Housing Officer for a transfer application. Please note that we cannot guarantee how long it will take to find you alternative accommodation as we are dependent on vacancies to meet the needs of transfer applicants. Mutual exchange or “swap” You can swap tenancies with another Keniston tenant, a tenant of another housing association or local council. Both tenants must have permission to do so from both landlords before arranging to move. Keniston is a member of homeswapper which gives Keniston’s tenants free access to a national mutual exchange database. Tower Homes and Moat Housing Society are good places to start.
