Having problems?

This page provides you with links to information you might find helpful if you are having difficulties with your tenancy or in your home.

Rent arrears
Our leaflet Rents and charges (see Information page) provides you with basic information about how we deal with rent arrears. If you are behind with your rent please speak to one of our Rent Income Officers, Chris Little or Toyin Atere who will try to come to an agreement with you about repaying the debt. We advise you not to take out a loan to repay your debt: all you need to do is keep to your agreement to repay the rent arrears. We will take legal action against tenants who avoid paying their rent.

Domestic violence
If you are suffering from domestic violence, you can seek help from the following:

If you are a woman - contact Women’s Aid , freephone 0808 2000 247.

If you are a man suffering from domestic violence contact The Mankind Initiative ,
phone 0870 794 4124.

You may find it helpful to discuss the situation with your Housing Officer, especially if you have any questions about the implications of your situation for your tenancy. It is important to let your Housing Officer know if you have to leave the home. You may have responsibilities for the tenancy even if you have left the property.

Please also se our leaflet, “Your tenancy” (see link on Information page).

Anti Social behaviour
If you are suffering from anti social behaviour in your home, please contact your housing officer. Keniston is clear that it it will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. We have evicted tenants who have caused serious anti social behaviour. We have an information leaflet called six steps to dealing with anti social behaviour. Please telephone the office for a copy.

Racial harassment
We are also clear that we will not tolerate racial harassment of any kind. You should report any racial harassment to the Association immediately. Please also inform your Housing Officer straight away if you experience any kind of racial harassment, whatever your ethnic background
